The Confederate Soldier’s Uniform and the Crinoline Hoop Dress

The Confederate Soldier's Uniform and the Crinoline Hoop Dress

This short story will be published soon. It’s a fantasy about Beauregard Ancload III and Cheryl Lee Manfred, a young engaged couple attending the Savannah State University in Savannah, Georgia.

In their class on History of Civil War Battles, they are assigned a story to read and give a report on whether they think the story is true or just a folk lore legend. The story is about the sad demise of a Confederate Army soldier and his fiance during a Civil War battle just outside of Savannah.

They decide to make a day of it and travel to the field where the battle had been fought. Walking through the fields by the Washington River, they discover a Confederate Army soldier’s uniform and a pink crinoline hoop dress lying partially buried in the ground with tall grass growing around them.

When Beau and Cheryl Lee take the garments home and lay them out to study, they make another even more surprising discovery.
